The I-Am-mzimba blog was suspended by the registry due to some technical issues. It took a month to sort it out, but I am glad we are black online. So, I wrote another article on “thoughts that cause us anxiety”, because I thought I published a different topic LOL. Oh well, no content should go to waste if it can help somebody, even if it is just one person. Are you an overseer of your thought life? Do you also entertain every thought that comes to your mind?
I initially wanted to do a series of different things that generally cause us anxiety, and I figure we are different people and different things affect us differently. There are, however, common denominators, and so I decided to just cap my second anxiety series to just three things to avoid that could fall in the “anxiety common denominators”. My previous article is about places that cause us anxiety. Are you an overseer of your thought life?
The core of our being is our reality
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” Proverbs 23:7. This remains one of my absolute favorite scriptures. We are pretty much what we think of ourselves. This speaks directly about our psychological state. Are we in charge of our thought life? Our thoughts govern our lives. We are indeed what we think of ourselves. Our thoughts have a direct impact on the core of our being. The core of our being is our ultimate reality and if we do not have total control of our thought life, we will find ourselves with thoughts that we do not desire. Are you an overseer of your thought life?
Fruitful thoughts
How often do we find ourselves entertaining thoughts that cause us anxiety? There may be times when we find ourselves entertaining thoughts that are not fruitful, nor do they serve us in any way. Sometimes we even create a scenario that may never even exist. You and I need to also remember this, “What we are thinking is not exactly what is happening in the world”. We need to constantly check our thought life and should not be “whatever happens, happens” or “it is what it is” individuals. Our thought lives govern our reality. The good news is that at any time we can oversee our thought life. We can choose which thoughts we want to entertain and which ones we do not want to entertain.
Reflection
Are you aware of the state of your thought life? Have you figured out a way to deal with the conflict between good and bad thoughts? Which thoughts do you normally find yourself gravitating towards? Are you happy with your thought life? Are you an overseer of your thought life?
