Tarrying maybe the reason we play catch up all the time.

We were all raised differently and as a result, we think and perceive things differently. We may have been raised in the same household and still have different perspectives. That is just how humans are designed. We each have our unique way of thinking, and believe it or not, we can change our thinking patterns if we want to. We are constantly made to think about the next best thing available in the market, and the more we ponder on it, the more we are likely to want a share in it. Can we truly have everything we want? Can life get to a state of perfection where we are so content that we desire nothing that the world offers? Tarrying maybe the reason we play catch-up all the time.

Are we ready for constant change?

We live in a world that is constantly changing its form and patterns, and the change happens whether we approve of it or not. Change is truly inevitable, and our willingness to adapt will determine how far we can go. How we think is another factor that we need to look at. The resistance to change reflects our thought life. You and I need to ask ourselves if we are progressive with our thinking. You have probably heard this phrase “time waits for no man” several times, and yes, time indeed waits for no man. Has the world ever waited for any of us to catch up when we were slow with adapting to the latest technologies that were introduced in the past? How long did it take you to adapt to the change in technology or the environment? Tarrying maybe the reason we play catch-up all the time.

Traditional

The human mind loves comfort, it loves safety and the feeling of tarrying. Our minds will automatically find safety in a new environment and as a result, we may find ourselves staying in a place that we were meant to be passing through for too long. We may find ourselves staying in those friendships that were only meant to be seasonal for longer than we should be, we will find ourselves staying in jobs that were meant to elevate us to our next level for way longer than we should have, all because we got too comfortable. Our minds (our thought process) are the reason why tradition thrives so much. We find ourselves doing the same thing that was done by the previous generation, and yes, it may have worked for the previous generation, but does it work for where the world is today and for where the world is headed? We need to be cognisant of our thinking patters all the time. Our minds can get used to thinking in a certain way and believing the results will forever remain the same, even when times do not permit us to think in that order. Tarrying maybe the reason we play catch-up all the time.

We can change our thinking patterns.

It is those who dare challenge their thinking patterns that manage to move with the times, and they will most likely not need to play catch up with the world all the time. How many times have you and I needed to play catch up with the world all because we tarried in places we were supposed to pass through? Pain is part of life, however tarrying in the state of pain for longer than we should have caused us to miss the opportune time for our success, (we all deal with pain differently and heal at different stages, I am just urging you not to tarry for longer than you should in the state of pain). Likewise, with success, it certainly part of life. Our lives go through seasons of pain and success. When experiencing success, one needs to think to themselves how long they are planning to maintain the moments of success and how progressive should our thought life be for us to be able to maintain the state of success. Tarrying maybe the reason we play catch-up all the time.

Sometimes life will not give us the same opportunities if we tarry for too long. Paraphrasing the words of Godfrey Matebane who said, when we play catch up, we might lose more than we what we thought we had, our friends, things that motivate us and people that are our voice of reason who constantly look out for us and ensure that we grow and evolve into who and what need ought to be.

Reflections.

Does the world owe you and me anything? Let us consider where we are right this moment, how long have you been in place? Is it your place of extreme comfort? Can your mind comprehend the idea of moving from where you are? If you have thought of moving, what has delayed the move? Is comfort alone the only barrier for still being in the same place? How can you challenge your mind to understand the importance of progressive thinking? Do people and the world owe us anything?
