Strangers celebrate us better

Would you invite your sister’s friends to your birthday party even though you have never met them, simply because your sisters cannot stop raving about their amazing friends and yes indeed, their social media feeds do attests to this theory?

Well, that was the case with us when we received an invite from a friend’s sister, who wished that we be present as she celebrates her life, her journey, her achievements, her family and yes, those are some of the elements of life we celebrate when we celebrate our birthdays. It is not just another day!

Though we had never met her before however it seemed as though we met ages ago, she was looking all sorts of lovely in her African print dress and everyone was expected to be in all white. Yup, we adhered to the theme because we respect events and people like that. As we dined for her birthday lunch, I could not help it but ponder on how our lives impact people, even people we have not met, how your smile on your Instagram feed can literally make somebody’s day. 

Do not look down on yourself because there are people that are challenged by your life and this is despite you having the things that your heart desires or not. There are people that are awaiting to celebrate your life with you. No one can replace your spark, only you have that spark and the world would not be the same without you.

It’s important that you tell your story, it frees your mind. Celebrate your life with those who celebrate you.
