Life is what we make of it. Life comes undressed and we, as individuals, dress it the way we want. How our lives look right now is a result of what we chose to dress it up with. When life throws us under the bus, we have a choice on how we should respond. The same as when life is good, we still have a choice to make on how long we are going to keep the good things going. We each are given opportunities to dress life the way we want. There is also something that will dress up like for us when we choose not to do it ourselves. Get sidetracked or be led by an unexpected proposition.
Straight to the DM
I would say that the same applies to social media, it is exactly what we make it out to be. We all have different characters, and I sent one of my Facebook friends a direct message who I believe has great content that he should be sharing with a larger audience beyond his Facebook feed. I requested him to be a content contributor to the blog. I just believe that different content contributors can bring a lot of different perspectives. After all, life is not one dimensional, everyone can teach a lot when given an opportunity. How willing are we to learn from different people, including the people we disagree with?
Pull back and think.
As we were talking (in the DM’s), it hit me that, wait, this is not a proposition he was expecting. He has his own life going well for him and a career that he loves, and there I came in the DM’s proposing that he adds to his “to-do-list”, something that was not part of his plans. I wondered how many of us stumble upon propositions that we had no intention of engaging in. What happens when such happens? I wondered if my proposition was going to distract him from the things he had planned to do with his time. How many times have we gotten side-tracked because of propositions or requests that we had no intention of engaging in? If you had gotten distracted before, do you know what has made you choose to succumb to the distraction?
Standing in your beliefs.
However way he responded to my proposition, only he knew what his decision would lead to. Despite me thinking that his content is great and that a bigger audience needed to hear his voice, only he understands his journey better. The truth is I was thinking of the great content for the blog, to best benefit you and I, the constant readers, and future new readers of the posts, but that was not necessarily his plan. He knows what engagements will lead him closer to his bigger objectives. How he analysed my proposition made me question the many offers and propositions that come my way if they will serve as a vehicle that will lead me to my bigger objective or not.
Reflections
Life will present great offers and propositions our way; all you and I need to do is have our eyes opened and our ears on the ground. Time and seasons happen to all of us. When it rains, it rains on all of us. How prepared will we be when that time comes? Will the offer and proposition be one that will lead us to our bigger objectives? Will we be able to recognise those offers and propositions that will lead us to the bigger objective? Have you ever found yourself having accepted an offer that you knew deep in your heart that you were not supposed to have accepted? Have you accepted an offer that you had no idea would lead you in a different direction? How do you evaluate all offers and propositions that come your way?

True and being self aware of what you want eliminates the fear of the feedback you give or receive.
Good piece.

I recognise and relate to a lot of this. Having been in many situations where I’ve been given offers to expand on ideas that people have told me are great can be daunting. It is the question of how one turns ones gifts into something that can be grown and monetised as it were. What I am understanding is that it needs to start within, I have to feel worthy of an investment before it can really go anywhere. Thank you for redirecting my eyes to what I’ve always known to be there.
