We live constantly trying to better ourselves. Pressures of life require us to meet certain standards before we are accepted in certain social circles. There’s a language that is spoken by those we aspire to be, and we often wonder if we even have the right tone to sound the way we do.

With all this, what is it to us to want to be like those we admire from a distance? What is it to us to desire to speak like those we admire? Don’t misunderstand me, there’s nothing wrong with wanting more out of life and putting in the work to get it. After all, there is a hard worker and a go-getter in all of us. Some of us choose to wake in us the inner man that works hard and others choose not to.

When we admire those who have made it, as we perceive them (bearing in mind that they too could be in pursuit for more than we perceive to be great), have we considered exactly what we admire about them? Could we be admiring their lifestyle or their work ethic? We carefully need to look at what we honestly admire from them. Trying to live the same way other people do could cost us more than we bargained for if we are not willing to put in the work. We cannot put in the bare minimum and expect great results.
Our ability to analyze our work ethic will allow us to gage if we are fit to live the way we dream of. I have come to learn that in most cases we want to live the same way successful people live and yet we put in bare minimum work.

I read this quote “You cannot have a million-dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic”. Yes, there is so much truth in that. It’s been said that we need to live and act according to where we want to be, that will always be our reality, we will be actors if we do not put in the work in making the acting our reality. For u to be what we want to be, we must also put in the work. Otherwise, we are just putting pressure on ourselves unnecessarily.

One question to both you and me: How is our work ethic?
