Pay yourself what is due to you.

Are you honestly going to give up? Just like that? You have made so many strides, and yes, you have come a long way just too give up now. Sometimes, when we do not know what to do, we must look back at how far we have come. No, I am not talking about fighting a losing battle. I am referring to you and the things you want to achieve and the person you want to be. What to do when you do not know what to do?

Oh yes, you are going to pay me my money! Nina Simone

Oh yes, you are going to pay me my money, are the words uttered by Mis Nina Simone when the record company was stalling with paying her what was due to her. They did not want to pay her what was due to her. What happened thereafter was something I do not believe they were ready for. Miss Nina Simone was not having it. She went at great length to get what was due to her. She was not willing to receive what she was offered but completely went ballistic at what she was offered. Instead, she fought to get what she knew she deserved.

Fight for YOU!

What could have caused Miss Nina Simone to fight for what she believed she deserved? I believe she knew and was aware of the amount of work she had put in when she created her music. Miss Nina Simone was stern in her beliefs and that was one of the things that made her. When our beliefs about ourselves are not grounded we will settle for whatever is being offered to us. It is easy to receive what is on the table when we are not grounded in our beliefs. We cannot rest until we have what we know we deserve, and what we deserve is determined by the amount of work we have put in making our lives. Miss Nina Simone knew she put in the work and therefore she fought for what she deserved. How much have you put in to make your life work?

We deserve what we put in and not what we wish for.

Planting apple seeds produce apple trees. We reap what we sow. So, we must be cognizant of what we sow in our lives. In us fighting for what we believe we deserve we must also ponder on what we have sowed. Our exterior mirrors our interior. We need to plough the soil before planting, more like uprooting the things we do not want in our lives. We need to utter the same words Miss Nina Simone said, “Oh yes, you will pay me my money”. Knowing that we have put in as much as we demand out.

We sometimes settle for what is offered and not what we deserve. Do we know any better? Do we know what we are worth? How is our input? Do we give ourselves what we deserve?

We simply cannot withdraw from bank accounts we have not deposited in.
