No lost opportunities in holiday seasons

The festive season has officially begun, and holidays have more meaning when you have family and friends to create memories with. I remember growing up, December was the one month we looked forward to, and this was because we got a chance to wear new clothes on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. I am certain many can relate to this😅. 

 I remember buying this dress almost two years ago. I had been invited to the wedding which ended up being cancelled (story for another day), so this dress has been in my wardrobe since then. When I got invited to a friend’s baby shower with a theme that matched my dress, I saw an opportunity to wear it. So, when I arrived at the baby shower everyone was so in love with it and sadly it’s no longer in stores because I bought it more than 2 years ago. I always feel bad when people want an item of clothing and I can’t refer them to the stores. With this one, I was so lucky to get it at Jet for less than R200. Decided to pair it with bright shoes so I went for my neon unBout pumps. For me, it was love at first sight as I’m such a girly girl.

I’m very much in love with dresses so this one was a must-have and lucky for me it fitted the baby shower theme perfectly. I hope you are as excited about the Holiday season as I am. 

Do you know the feeling of being prepared for an event and it gets cancelled on you, more especially when you have gone out of your way to prepare for the event? Good thing for me, I got an opportunity to wear my dress at a different event. How many times have you and I prepared for an opportunity and not get the opportunity thereafter?

How do we react and what do we do when the opportunity we’ve been preparing for suddenly vanishes right before our eyes? Do we throw in the towel? Do we give in? or do we wait for another opportunity to present itself again? How about creating that opportunity for ourselves? When another opportunity presents itself again, you and I will be ready for it. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “a stretched mind can never go back to its former dimension”. Preparing for an opportunity and not getting it still leaves us in a much better position than we were before preparing for it.
