It is an artist’s responsibility to reflect the times. Nina Simone
Extraordinary times need extraordinary measures, this is what came to mind when I heard the words spoken by Nina Simone. We live in a world that is constantly changing and this requires us to always be steps ahead or else we will always play catch-up. Playing catch up means, getting crumbs instead of the best. How the world was a year ago is completely different from how the world is today. The way people used to get their income in the past decade is different from how people make their money today. Is it true that income means a better life? How are we reflecting the times?
My thoughts, my responsibility.
It has been said time and time again that we are all responsible for our successes. Sometimes even the people we trust the most will not be able to get us to where we want to get to. That is where our super-human abilities should come into play, our thoughts, and beliefs. The sooner we are aware of these super-human abilities, the better. Our thought life is responsible for the many decisions that we have made to this day. Our beliefs are what have led us to think about what we think daily.
The times
We constantly need to bring ourselves to a point of reflection. Reflect the times as Nina Simone said, “It is an artist’s responsibility to reflect the times”. We will only reflect the time according to how are thought life is shaped. Our thought life reflects the times which we find ourselves in. One may find themselves not where they desire to be, however, they would still be at peace with where they are. Could it be because they know and believe the best is yet to come? How is your reflective moment?
Income vs better life
Throughout generations, people have been on the lookout for ways to make additional income. All of us want to live a better life and I have said previously that we all define better differently. However way you define better, I do believe that you want to live a better life. To some, better means more income, peace in their homes, fulfillment in their personal lives, fulfilling relationships, a college or university degree, only you can decide what better means to you. We cannot assume that everyone is thinking of money when they think “better life”. What does a better life mean to you?
Reflection
We are all artists; we are all painting a picture, and this is whether we are aware of it or not. The decisions we make daily work more like a paintbrush. Our thoughts are out vision boards, seeing the final product. As artists, we reflect on the times of our lives. We are all responsible for the portraits we paint. How are we using our paintbrushes? How are your steps ahead in painting your portrait?
