Resourcefulness

It is until you decide to be what you want and do something about it, nothing will happen in your life. Words that seemed harsh to a man who was deep in thought as he thought about how his life sucks. He did not seem to have much going on in his world and he was just there, breathing. He just needed to decide to do something with his recources.

Fear cripples my life

My life isn’t going the way I want, and I am not given as many opportunities as I had hoped – he spoke as fear crippled his thought life and ability to see himself beyond where he was. Despite having tried all that he could to be in a better position, he still found himself back where he started. Will this ever get better? – he spoke out as he held back his tears. After all, men do not cry is what he was taught and therefore he had to put on a strong façade.

Hold up, this is not the life that I signed up for. This is not the life that I ordered. Then why do I find myself back in the same position all the damn time? Was his self-posed question which he seemed not to have answers to. Imagine being in a restaurant waiting for your T-bone steak and the waiter serves you with dry chicken breast that looks like they have been seasoned with a sloppy watery gravy, then looks at you straight in the eye, turns around and walks away. This is what this young man felt like at this point in his life.

He could not make sense of what was happening

It was like the time when he was in the sneaker’s shop buying a pair of sneakers, he’s always wanted for months, overwhelmed with excitement, only to find that he was given two left shoes when he got home. Have you had instances where life did not give you what you ordered?  Much more like planning a perfect outfit in your mind and how you are going to look great in it and have your body disagree with your mind when you tried the outfit out.

This young man found himself in unfavorable situations, he should have checked if the waiter had the correct order. Most of us believe that life and everyone else should understand us. Maybe there was a language barrier, however, the young man should have checked if the waiter got his order right. Maybe he should not have had the, “I am the customer and you are the service provider” attitude. Had he checked his order, he would have saved himself the time and possibly the annoyance with the waiter.

I have spent days reflecting. My findings? What I have been looking for has always been withing me and I’ve been the obstacle standing in my way of greatness.  Godfrey Megapod Matebane

Well, we can say the same with his long-awaited sneakers, had he checked his sneakers before exiting the store, he would have saved himself time as well. What about the outfit that seemed perfect in our minds? Have we invested in physiques that would suit that outfit? Not everyone will agree with the questions posed here and that is alright, however, I believe in saving time and double-checking does not necessarily make you a paranoia but one who loved getting exactly what they ordered from life.

Are you still headed in the right direction?

When going through life, how often do we check if we are still headed in the right direction? Just like his excitement to have still found the sneakers he’s always wanted for months, that he forgot to check if he was given the correct order. Though the store sales consultant should have double-checked, he as the customer should have checked to save his time.

Introspection

Have you recently revisited your plans and your journey to check if you are still in the right direction? Have your small wins distracted you from checking if you are taking home just what you ordered. Small wins great as they are, and we are meant to celebrate small wins daily. The responsibility lies on us to ensure that we take home what we ordered and not life.
