It is the Spring season, that time of the year where trees and flowers blossom, and the air is fresh and warm. This season comes right after winter, a season that some do not appreciate. Winter is a season that brings some of the unpleasant truths about the world we live in and ultimately, brings out the truth about life. We all go through winter and there are those of us who have mastered the art of enjoying this season, while the rest of us simply just cannot wait for it to pass. Winter for some represents a brig as if we are at war with nature and you are stuck in this cage that restricts your movement, and on the other hand, others appreciate winter because of the fashion elements that come with the season. This being said could also be interpreted as how we look at different seasons determines the outcome of how much we get to engage and enjoy each season that we are faced with.

Springtime can also be tricky, as we generally expect warmth, however, it can at time reintroduce the last days of winter but with all that, there is less fussiness about that because we know for sure that cold spring days will only last a day or two.

As the trees and flowers blossom in the spring season, we are reminded that nothing lasts forever, no season will ever last forever, its time comes and goes. Though winter days may try to still linger around, they are soon overcome by the warm air of the spring season. Spring introduces to us, fresh and colourful flowers, all blossoming in its unique glory. Fresh flowers represent now meaning to life, they represent a fresh start. This is also said to us, no matter how much your winter season has been rough to you, it will not last forever, a season of new opportunities and a fresh start, with experience will come to your embrace.

I had an obsession of buying fresh flowers almost every week, and I had learned a way of keeping them looking fresh for longer from my mom, and that is adding sugar to the water, yup, it works. Try it too. Make sure you get a vas for your fresh flowers. There also instances when I had to change the water for the same flowers to last even longer. As flowers represent the newness of life, new vision, new opportunities. We too, need to also revisit our life’s vases and change our water for the opportunities that we have been either presented with or created for ourselves to last longer, yielding better fruit for us.

With the spring season representing newness of life, we too, need not to hold on to the winter season of our lives. We may be physically out of a winter season but be mentally stuck in winter. How we perceive our winter seasons is imperative because it will determine how well we are prepared for the spring season.

As unpleasant as winter is for most of us, think of how beautiful the flowers and the trees blossom in springtime. Winter is then given no choice but to depart as soon as it is springtime. We too, need to get ourselves prepared for our spring season in winter, knowing that winter will not last forever and springtime is fast approaching.

Our mental preparation is imperative in ensuring that we do not get stuck psychologically in winter that we fail to see our spring season and that is newness of life, new opportunities the blossoming of our own lives.

Buy yourself flowers, smell them and enjoy the freshness that is embodied in them. Let that be a reminder that no matter how cold your winter season is, your springtime is fast approaching and in no time, like the flowers in your hands and arms, you will soon be embracing newness of life and new opportunities because your spring season will bring you nothing less than newness of life and new opportunities.
