So often people would ask me why I love clothes so much and my response is always, it is a long story that needs a weekend away. The reason I say that is because this starts from my childhood. Growing up I never had a father, he passed away when I was just 2 months old😢. So I only had my mother. She was in between jobs so many times that she would be unemployed, and I would only have certain clothes not options like other kids in my neighbourhood or relatives. It got worse in High School because that is when other kids are wearing expensive brands of our time and my Mom was unemployed for the first two years of my High schooling. Fortunately, I had an amazing Man who loved me like his child when he didn’t have to, that is ladies and gentlemen, my Stepdad. The little money he gave me I would compromise on clothing and that is how I learned to look good on a small budget. I’m forever thankful for that because that experience taught me much of a valuable lesson and technique that I’m applying with my clients, even to date. Looking good doesn’t have to be costly😉. The dress I’m wearing here is from Jet only R199. These are just pieces of me… stay on the blog for more personal stories.
It is amazing how when we are open to how life is at the time that we can accomplish more with the seemingly less of what we have. Yes, I also would have loved to own an expensive t-shirt however my situation at the time did not allow me and I had to be open to other possibilities to make life work for me, even as a teenager.
When we start appreciating the little that we have, life has a way of increasing that we deem little. It is in recent times that I am learning that I actually saved myself from anxiety and who knows, maybe depression too, and is because I was able to embrace and appreciate the little that my mom and stepdad could afford and make it work while I still had great ambition to make my life better than what I was experienced at the time.
Have we wondered why we are so anxious over the things that we do not have? How much do we appreciate the things that we have? I believe that when we start to appreciate what we have, it is then that we can grow what we have.
If we are faithful with little, we will be made faithful with much.
