It is “suddenly” moments that we long for subconsciously. Life sometimes hits us with situations and events that we are least prepared for, and we may feel stuck, not knowing what to do and which direction to take. Such can be life and yes, our reactions to “suddenly” moments are everything. The one-moment things could be going so well and the next, everything could be smashed like an egg yolk that was on its way to being a chick. Life has moments of “suddenly”. Life has, you can start with the job immediately, or “please vacate the premises effective immediately”. “Suddenly” moments are just that, they occur suddenly! They do not warn us prior, they mean their business, “suddenly”. Do we remain stuck or move on regardless of what suddenly happened?
The nonconscious expectations we have embedded with our beliefs inform us of the “suddenly” moments we are more likely to gravitate towards.
Heartless or kind?
“Suddenly” moments can either be kind to us or pretty heartless. I am sitting on my cushion on the floor in my chill-out-room wondering if there is anything that can prepare us and cause us to be stable for “suddenly” moments. Being always on a lookout for “suddenly” moments could cause us to be paranoid about almost everything because we will live our lives thinking that something could “suddenly” happen, and on the other hand, they could be moments that raise our faith and expectations that wonderful things are about to happen. Which “suddenly” moment do you often think about?
How do we avoid situations we did not invite?
I have come to realize that we cannot avoid situations and moments that slap us across our faces when we least expect it, or that one phone call that will change your latter days for the better. I have come to learn that every road leads us to where we need to go if we walk long enough. Bad days teach us life lessons and good days encourage us to press on. Either way, we need to choose how we respond to “suddenly” moments that life presents us with. How long are you willing to walk to get to your better latter days when life presents you with unpleasant news? How long will you stay encouraged by the good news that you have just received? I believe these are the questions we ought to ask ourselves for every “suddenly” moment that we are faced with. Whatever answer we arrive at, must be one that makes the soul content. Do we remain stuck or move on regardless of what suddenly happened?
Reflections
Think of the one moment when you were hit with unexpected news, unpleasant or exciting. Do you still remember how it made you feel? The many thoughts that flooded your mind over the unexpected news. I need you to think of how you could have handled the news differently had you been prepared for the news. Remember this is the unexpected news, unpleasant or exciting. Would you have still felt the same way had you been prepared for it? What could have prepared you for it? How can you use your answers and apply them to your “suddenly” moments that will inevitably happen in the future? Do we remain stuck or move on regardless of what suddenly happened?
