Are you employable & is your business competitive for where the world is going?

The world will not go back to the same as it was. This is a fact. It might not necessarily be the case for everyone however for most of us, the world will truly not go back to the way it was. Most of us feel stuck, and to some there seems to be no way out. This is over and above the stresses that most of us were already dealing with. There have been job losses and businesses are shutting their doors. When companies close their doors, employment agencies (recruitment agencies) will not be required to recruit candidates (potential employees). This just goes to show that nothing works in isolation and neither should we. Life pretty much works like a domino effect. The right hand will affect the functionalities of the left hand. Are you employable & is your business competitive for where the world is going? Can recruitment agencies consider you and can your clients still hire your business?

Surrender and drown

How easy it is for us to speak without concern of those who are not as tired as others? Life has a way of turning things around. It has been said time and again that we are all responsible for where we want to be and that is easy to believe when things are going well for us. The best time for us to believe that we are responsible for our destinies is when all things are against us. Just when we think we have no more tries in us to press on, that is when we need to believe that statement.

We each need to ask ourselves if someone is coming to save us from our troubles or not. The need to hold on and not surrender to the troubles of the day could very well mean that we do have one more try left in us to pursue that which we want. When we opt to surrender, we will drown. How many more tries do you still have in you?

One-more try

How have we trained ourselves to look at the day’s troubles? As a business owner whose business is holding by the thread, an employee who is still blessed to have their job, or an unfortunate employee-facing retrenchment and still have recruitment agencies tell you that no one is currently hiring now, how and what should be done to get out of where you are? I encourage you to look within one more time and I promise you that you will find one more try in you to not give up. Have you thought of how the world will operate in the next six months? When we position our minds in that manner, we will be able to know or maybe understand how we should present ourselves to potential business customers or potential employees.

I honestly believe the world has started changing and its changing and we need to then learn to adapt quickly and reinvent ourselves, using our learned skills. We should never find ourselves resisting change. How are you setting yourself up for how the world will operate in the next year and the next decade?

Reflection

Would Nokia and Kodak find themselves where they are today if they adapted to the change that the world was experiencing? How are we positioning ourselves as businesses and employees that will be useful in the economy in the next 10 years? Be honest with yourself and position yourself well.
