Solitude

You are alone for a reason. There’s genius in solitude.

We are all built, designed, and wired differently and that is the beauty of life. This is was I got to appreciate when I was enjoying a quiet evening at my place in what seemed like a normal Saturday to an ordinary man. An evening of solitude can be seen as boring, with the sounds of Nina Simone that had been keeping me company earlier in the day.

It was until I saw a post from an acquaintance about confinement as a form of punishment, and it hit me that some people must be put away as a corrective measure, and others simply choose to be alone out of willingness. Isn’t life and its dynamics just interesting? Being separated from everyone else as a measure of punishment to get you right with society and follow the general rules set for everyone. And again, choosing to be alone because you perhaps want some “me time”.

I need us to consider all the people we believe to be great. Great musicians, great inventors, industrialists, known and unknown. There is something common about them, they all went through a period of solitude. A state of confinement perhaps? Could have gone through moments of solitude because of their ideas? It is quite interesting to see that they must have believed their ideas were not ordinary and they also did not fit the normalcy of the day, and going into solitude was probably the best time they needed to do to harness the greatness in their ideas, even when no one believed in them?

What keeps us in confinement? Have you thought of what keeps you in solitude between your fears and your dreams? Fear stops us from harnessing and realizing our dreams and our dreams require us to be courageous enough to pursue them even in most unfavorable of times, we do succumb to either one of these. I dare ask again, what keeps us in confinement between our dreams and fears?

I guess doing what you love keeps you going – Edward Edcat Senye

When we are in solitude, the road can be lonely, and often things might not work out the way we had hoped for. Our love and commitment for what we do will keep us going. All great people who have ever lived and who are alive today have gone through moments of separation. People who love their peace of mind often enjoy being alone to best preserve their peace and this is a great attribute to have. Being able to go into confinement in your own space to preserve what you have.

There is greatness in solitude. We, who want to live a great life should willingly go into moments of solitude to best figure out our genius and what it means to live and experience greatness. I have mentioned in my previous posts that we each define greatness differently. Define your greatness. In most cases, the ability to realize our greatness lies in solitude. All great individuals faced a time of solitude, willingly or otherwise.

A time of solitude enables us to plan our great work. Separation helps us sharpen our skills and execute our great ideas. Do you believe your ideas are great? Or are you living within the walls of fear? You and I will not be able to harness great ideas that will change the course of our time in the busyness of normalcy. So how we use our time in solitude will determine the outcome of the life we will yet live and experience in years to come.
The best time to be yourself is in solitude. Can you truly be what you are not in private? Can you find inspiration in solitude?

Sometimes we must be away from the noise and be by ourselves to best figure out what is best for us.

Your genius is found in solitude.

I am here to learn and to refresh others.
