Wisdom in the old

I  have had the privilege of meeting a lot of people from different walks of life, whether this happened through my traveling experiences or just randomly meeting people. I have met pleasant people and I have also met not so pleasant people, and both these experiences have helped me realise how I want to be remembered.
One afternoon while I was at a shopping mall, I met an old man who could be in his late 60s. How we met is just unusual. I was on my phone, standing in the queue and laughing at memes, and this old man approached me and said “you have been laughing this entire time. I like that. You will live long”. As I raised my head to see who has just said that, I saw a short and chubby old man. It was at that moment that I realised that I have been laughing unaware that I was. I was zoned out in laughter.
“Smile. It increases your face value.” It also increases your success – Ancient idiom
We both introduced ourselves to each other, and what started as simple “you have been laughing this entire time. I like that. You will live long” comment from a stranger turned into a long chat, even after we had left the shop. Something is amazing about talking to old people because they have a wealth of wisdom. I have learned to draw wisdom from them. They have a more solid, experienced with life.
To be quite honest, I forgot his name, however, I can tell you the one thing he said that I still remember to this day. He said “Never lose sight of your vision. Build for generations to come”. He looked at me, smiled and said “you will do well” and went his way.
Never lose sight of your vision. Build for generations to come – a stranger, I randomly met
How often do we want to speak to strangers or have strangers want to talk to us, but none of do because we are either of us is unapproachable? This man spoke into my life and yet I did not know him. From what he said, please allow me to pose this question to both you and I. How clear is the vision that you and I have for each of our lives? Are we building for the next generation?
Do you have a well that you draw wisdom from? What truths and elements of wisdom have you gotten in your life that you will live by to this day? How have the elements of wisdom helped you prepare for your future?
